ZACH CURLED UP against the warm body next to him, throwing his leg over hers and drawing her closer. Early morning light streamed through the windows of Kelly’s bedroom. He smiled to himself. It was nice to wake up with her again, to have his very first sight in the morning be her dark hair or her beautiful face—or her naked body.

He smoothed his hand along her hip, her soft skin warm beneath his palm. She stirred, then slowly rolled over to face him. “What time is it?”

“Early,” he said.

“I have to open the shop at ten,” she murmured, nuzzling into his chest.

“You have time.” Zach pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I’m going to go get us some breakfast. How do you take your coffee?” It was a simple question and when she replied in great detail, he was pleased. It was just one small thing to know about her—sixteen-ounce skim latte, no foam, with two sugars.

“Anything to eat?” he asked.

“The most I can take in the morning is toast or a bagel.” She rolled over on her stomach. “I’m going to get in the shower.”

Zach crawled on top of her and kissed the spot beneath the nape of her neck. “Not yet,” he said. “Wait until after breakfast. Then I’ll join you.”

“Don’t you have to work?”

“Larry is covering for me today so I’m just helping out in editing. And Jeff never rolls in till noon, so we can have a lazy morning.”

“Latte, please,” she murmured, burying her face in the pillow.

Zach hopped out of bed and searched for his pants, finding them at the foot of the bed. He tugged them on, then grabbed his shirt and pulled it over his head. He’d kicked off his shoes at the door and slipped them on before he began a search for Kelly’s keys. Once he’d found them, he headed out.

Her condo was in a busy part of midtown, with three or four coffee shops within a one-mile radius. He picked a small shop that he visited often, parking his truck in a loading zone while he ran inside. After placing his order, he walked back out to the sidewalk and bought a newspaper from a nearby box.

He flipped open the front page and scanned for the weather report. “High of ninety-six, chance of storms in the afternoon,” he mused.

A photo in the lower right-hand corner of the page caught his attention and Zach gasped. There was a small article about the Falcons’ victory the night before and right above it was an image of Kelly, wearing a Falcons’ cap and blowing a kiss at the camera. The photo had an ESPN credit and Zach was certain it was a capture from the video feed off his camera.

“‘Fans love the Falcons,’” he read from the headline. “‘The Falcons snatched a preseason victory from the Chicago Bears last night, the team spurred on by a lucky kiss from an unknown female fan. Details in sports.’”

He chuckled to himself. Good to know that he wasn’t the only one who thought the camera loved Kelly.
